Tired Girls

Everybody is really tired. We still want to sleep in the day and be up at night. Lyndsey is not eating very well. And when we do get formula in her she spits it all up. Diane is really getting frustrated. We have been trying many different formulas and strengths and bottles and still haven't hit on the magic one. We ask our family and friends to say a prayer for Lyndsey's appetite, tolerating food and Diane's nerves.

Hello there! My name is Kirsty (from the Netherlands) and I got your blog address through the yahoo-xuwen group as we have a boy from the Xuwen orphanage. First: congratulations on your new family addition! She's beautiful!
Did you ask the orphanage staff which brand of formula your daughter is used to? Bao was used to the "Jindinggruye" brand which was only available on Shamian Island right across the White Swan Hotel. In a small conveniant store when you walk in the direction of the QingPing market. Unfortunately this brand is on the tainted melamine list. Maby you can ask your chinese guide if this brand is of better quality now. If you'd like to e-mail me please do so.
Maybe it's "only" the nerves of your daughter getting used to her new situation??
I whish you the best of luck!
    Love, Kirsty
PS. Bao was only able to drink his bottle lying down on the bed and holding the bottle on his own. It was too much stress for him being held as he was not used to that.

You may want to make sure it is hot. Both my girls wanted their bottles hot to drink not scalding, but hot. We will send up a prayer for you. OUr little one had acid reflux and would spit up all the time too. That would be our Kaci from Guangdong. You can have Ecco get some local formula for her, but I think she probably already did.

Is she only on formula? We started Kiya right on watered down rice cereal because she would not drink any formula either. Kiya also went right for the scrambled eggs and Congi (I think that's how you spell it). Maybe Lyndsey is too young for that? She might just also be stressed and this is how she is expressing it. Time will heal. Our prayers and joys are with you. This blogging stuff is so great I made a blog!

Both of our girls liked rice cereal mixed in their bottles and a cross-cut on the nipple. They also liked congee and scrambled eggs, mashed bananas, and anything soft that I could find. Ellie liked some of the Chinese baby foods. Echo took us to a large grocery store at a mall where I bought several kinds to try.
Ellie ate everything that we offered from the very first day, but Abby and her friends were all very poor eaters, because they all seemed to be grieving the first week that they were with us. This is probably normal, but several babies had a very poor intake and worried their parents greatly. Also, maybe she is too used to feeding herself, as one of the other comments suggested. Maybe letting her feed herself quietly would help her adjust. We will put you on the prayer change. Lots of love
    Cheryl
